We are seeking a Research Associate to serve in a scientific position in our rapidly growing organization. In this role you will be responsible for operating our sample preparation workflows upstream of mass spectrometry-based proteomics and metabolomics experiments. This is a collaborative role requiring productive interactions across our Operations and R&D teams as we execute client-driven projects and develop new experimental approaches. We are located in Saint Louis, MO. The position comes with health and 401k benefits, and a salary commiserate with the candidate’s experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Extract and prepare biological samples for mass spectrometry analysis
  • Work with both well-defined and experimental research protocols to deliver high quality data to our clients and our internal R&D and operations teams.
  • Operate metabolomic and proteomic sample preparation workflows
  • Take leadership of developing new approaches to sample preparation for proteomics
  • Review, follow, and help refine Standard Operating Procedures as new workflows are introduced
  • Assist in the operations of mass spectrometers including helping to setup up sample queues and execute methods
  • Maintain and operate analytical equipment. Perform routine laboratory maintenance tasks
  • Maintain positive control over timing and scheduling issues as we prioritize projects and meet deadlines
  • Attend scientific meetings, conferences and training courses
  • Other tasks as assigned

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree (B.S./M.S.) in a relevant scientific discipline
  • At least 2-years of experience in molecular biology and/or chemical laboratory operations 
  • Prior experience with bioanalytical sample preparation required
  • Prior experience with mass spectrometer vendor software is highly-desirable
  • Prior experience in a CRO environment is desirable
  • Demonstrated history of working well in a team environment
  • Effective communication skills are required
  • Experience with laboratory notebook record keeping
